Patrick Langan, 36, of Sioux City, was charged with terrorism, possession of a firearm by a felon, going armed with intent, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
At about 9 p.m. Feb. 4, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1900 block of George Street. They found a residence and a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. No injuries were reported. Investigators identified Langan as the suspect and located him at 1618 W. Third Street.
Due to Langan being armed and considered dangerous, the Sioux City Police Department activated its SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams. Several other people inside the residence complied with officers’ commands and exited the home. Negotiators attempted to persuade Langan to surrender peacefully, but he refused to communicate.
SWAT deployed a drone to locate Langan and later used chemical irritants to force him out. A Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office K-9 assisted in apprehending Langan after he failed to comply with commands.
The incident remains under investigation.
